BRITNEY SPEARS – WORKING ON NEW ALBUM!

Britney Spears will spend the summer working on her sixth studio album, according to Jive Records.

The popstar’s label released a statement confirming that she is progressing with the follow-up to 2007’s Blackout LP.

”She is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album,” said her management.

“She’s working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters and we’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet.”

Blackout, which debuted at number two on the US Billboard chart, has reportedly only sold 879,000 copies in America.

MCCONAUGHEY SETS UP RECORD LABEL!

Matthew McConaughey has set up his own record label, Page Six reports.

The Fool’s Gold star, who has already signed up a reggae artist, is looking for backing from larger record companies.

A source is quoted as saying: “He’s looking for a distribution deal with all the major labels for his own label.

“His first artist is a reggae guy called Mishka. The album will be called Above The Bones and the first single is ‘Here Comes Da Train’.”

A spokesman for the star confirmed the existence of the record company but stressed that no release dates had been scheduled for any artists.

DUFFY – WORKING ON MOVIE THEME!

Duffy has agreed to record a theme for upcoming movie How To Lose Friends And Alienate People.

Producers of the film, which stars Simon Pegg, approached the Welsh singer following the success of her debut album Rockferry.

A source said: “It will be a romantic number. Producers think her involvement will be great for raising the film’s profile.”

The track will be released as a single in October to coincide with the movie’s cinema debut.
