Bungee Jumping for Jump for Life!

bn-111.JPGbn11.JPG

It was definitely the craziest thing I’ve ever done. And its such a cool feeling! This is the way I describe the feeling of bungee jumping, though I dont’ think you should take my word for it, you should try it yourself!

Basically its so high up that its dizzying, and I think at that point, if you’re as scared of heights as I am, your brain stops registering that your body is about to fall from that high up! But once you fall and start dropping through the air, you don’t feel anything. It’s not like riding a rollercoaster, where you feel the chair beneath you, and you feel your body going VERY fast… its more like a weightless feeling when you fall. You don’t feel how fast you’re going because its just air, so its a bit of a weightless feeling, and all I remember now is the sound of the wind rushing in my ears, that was the only proof for me that I was moving (because I closed my eyes during the drop!). Then you get jerked back to reality when at some point the rope snaps your whole body back up, and you start traveling back up the air, and you think, oh no for a moment, because you know you’re going to fall all over again. And the rope jerks your body in a cool way actually. It doesn’t hurt, but its a strong kind of jerk,  like oh I’ve been weightless for 4 seconds and now its back to reality again, there is a strong rope attached to my legs… and I’m in the SKYYYY…

But its awesome! Seriously, all my life I’ve been scared of heights, but I have a firm belief that you should never let your fears get in your way, so I knew I couldn’t let the chance pass me to actually jump through the air! Even if my legs were like jelly from fear, I had to do it!

And Dafi Madannat, who is THE bungee-jumping guy for Jordan, (he’s the one who brought bungee jumping to Jordan and owns the Bungee Jordan company) said it best: If you’re not scared of bungee jumping, then it’s not fun. The whole point is that you’re scared and you overcome your fear to do it, if you weren’t scared of jumping through the sky then its not fun at all for you, but just something normal, and ceases to be something challenging. It’s a life-changing event, and Dafi says that people don’t forget it easily, and this is why if you do it for charity in an event like Jump for Life, which raises money for kids with heart problems, you will always tie the two together and forever feel good about doing something for yourself that is also good for others too.  He’s right! The entire weekend after I jumped on Thursday, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and I kept smiling to myself like a dork actually every time I remembered that I was actually 20 stories high, and threw my lone body off the edge, and how it feels to fall, just fall. It’s such a good memory.

I really want to thank the Bungee Jordan guys and Jump for Life as well as Gift of Life Association, which is the one taking care of kids with cardiac problems.

(We’re still waiting on the official video from the camera men, non Play 99.6 people, and as soon as we get it I’ll post the video up.)
