Mariah Carey has insisted that there will never be a “new” her. The singer, who scored her 18th US number one with new single ‘Touch My Body’, said she has nothing to fear from emerging stars like Leona Lewis. She told the Observer Music Monthly: “Honestly, there has been so many ‘This is the new her’, and I’m like, ‘OK, show me the new her. Can she come and work for me and be my double’ - I’m not particularly talking about this girl Leona, because I only heard her once and I didn’t really hear a true similarity, particularly in the style of music.

Wasn’t the MTV series “Chaotic” of her and K-Fed enough?

Troubled pop star Britney Spears will release a series of personal video diaries on the internet, according to reports. The “Toxic” hitmaker has been documenting her turbulent life through video diaries over the last six-months, and is rumored to be releasing the emotive footage through the web or on music channel MTV. According to British newspaper the Daily Mirror, the star lashes out at her family and friends in the videos, and criticizes ex-lover R&B Justin Timberlake.

A source tell the publication, “Britney’s video diaries are the talk of the Tinseltown elite. If she does decide to go public with the footage, it’ll be explosive.” “Although some of it is really sad to watch, especially the parts where she is close to breakdown, others are dynamite.”

In 2005, the 26-year-old singer gave fan’s an insight into her life in the MTV reality show “Chaotic,” which followed Spears’ relationship and courtship with then husband Kevin Federline.

Madonna will celebrate her new album, “Hard Candy,” with an intimate April 30 show at New York’s Roseland Ballroom. The performance will be cybercast live on MSN Music in Concert in the U.S. and on May 15 internationally.

The performance will come a day after the U.S. release of “Hard Candy,” the first single from which, “4 Minutes” featuring Justin Timberlake, is already No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. It is unknown if Timberlake or producer Timbaland, who also contributes to the album, will appear at the New York show.

In other Madonna news, the artist’s Icon fan club has relaunched with a social networking component, dubbed Icon Social. Registration is free, but a “platinum” membership runs $40, and includes members-only contests, ticket presales and other exclusive items.

Amy Winehouse will not be singing at the prestigious Costume Institute Gala in New York this May, according to sources. The troubled singer was hoping to break America with a performance at the star-studded bash and had even been granted a business visa allowing her to work in the US. But a source revealed, “She has been told that she is no longer part of the program. She was really looking forward to going to America… But now the trip is off. It seems Amy has slipped into her old ways and even her record label were concerned she wasn’t up to the trip. It will be a huge blow for her as it would have been a great platform to break America. They love her music over there, but Amy has yet to do a tour.” An insider for the event confirmed the decision, saying, “She was asked if she would be interested, and she was considered, but then we moved on from her.”

Pop sensation Miley Cyrus has discovered fame comes at a high price - she’s too busy to attend her high school prom. The Hannah Montana star, who co-hosted the CMT Awards with her father Billy Ray on Monday (14 Apr 08), was hoping to make it to the big dance, but has recently learned she won’t be able to get there. She says, “I am shooting my movie during prom days, so I won’t be there.” But the 15-year-old singer admits she’s secretly relieved - because she doesn’t have a date: “I would be like the single loner at the back of the prom. James Blunt has reportedly broken his finger and is unable to play the piano.
The 34-year-old singer told the Daily Mail that he picked up the injury after leaping from the stage at a gig in Ashville, North Carolina.
Blunt said: “I don’t know what made me do it. I jumped off the stage at the end and was chased by women - and men - in the crowd. I started running and the next thing I knew, I had a broken finger.
“I don’t even know how I did it. I can’t play the piano, but I can still play the guitar with my remaining fingers.”
