Muhannad-mania in Jordan

muhannad-cartoon.jpg

I love the cartoons of Emad Hajjaj. Here’s a recent gem of his, and just in tune with the whole Muhannad-madness that happened in Jordan this week with the visit of the Turkish actor who plays Muhannad, real name Kivanc Tatliguoaidjofidsfadfa  (it might as well be spelled that way since I can’t pronounce it either! Any Turkish Play listeners, please feel free to message me and tell me how to pronounce this guy’s name! :D).

Yesterday we were talking about how “Muhannad” is so loved here in Jordan and how, by visiting a children’s hospital and giving gifts to disabled kids he just played up his whole good guy, hero image. I’m a little suspicious of ya Muhannad now, I mean are you really so nice as to make a trip to Jordan to see disabled kids, or are you just trying to win over the 1% of ladies left in Jordan who aren’t in love with you yet?

Anyway, Noor is still all the rage, and I read in the newspaper that over 100,000 Saudis alone are expected to visit Turkey just because of the popularity of this show. (They have turned the palace where they film the show into a tourist attraction, you actually pay money to go in and take a look around!)

What do you think about all of this?

This is nonsence! its just what our people need these days; girls fall in love with an actor, ‘literaly’, acting his behaviour and lines written by an author … “Dead actors faking lines” is my way of describing these lunatics!
My message to our girls out there dreaming of a guy that resembles ‘Muhanad’ or whatever his name is: Grow up, he doesnt even exist !

well i am a person that hate everything its a thing about me i am kinda bitter, hateful and extremely unfriendly but i never knew that i could reach a new level of hating something and without anyone noticing they hit us by storm Turkish dubbed show yes they did and we liked the actors the scenery the furniture bed covers bed sheets and simple house ornaments the funny thing is most of the ppl who are addicted to that show say the plot is weak……..
hm then why the hell do u watch something as silly as that.
still somethings are left without explanation.

Well, I’m not going to be all misanthropic, instead I’m going to try and sound constructive ( Umm, yeah ).

Having watched this show on random occasions, mostly when I’m utterly bored, hence this is the only time i watch Television, I see absolutely nothing special about either the show or the Actors. It’s not half bad when your about to kill yourself because of boredom, but to reach this level?

To me this is more than a simple fuss about a hot actor/actress or a show as a whole, this is a clear and a shocking indication of how empty our lives have become.

I’d be confused too if i was given a choice either to visit the pyramids or the house “NooR” was shot at, it is indeed a tough decision, but for a semi-famous Arabic singer to pay ridiculous amounts of money for an actor who’s only been on one show to star in a clip of hers, or Arab men divorcing their wives because suddenly Arab females believe that Mohannad has became the definition of romance and a role model for all Arab men to follow, is just simply absurd.

The Arabs have complained ever since forever that the West are victims of media brainwashing, now i think Arabs are redefining the terms “Empty Lives” and “Media brainwashing”.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m no philosopher or a great thinker, but for the love of everything sacred to our nation, to the upcoming generations, and for our endless causes, Get a life people. Start caring about what truly matters, snap out of your delusions before its too late for each and every single one of us.

I say this and i beg God’s forgiveness for myself and everyone.

Think about it in another way. Arabs consider Turkish people more Arabs than Europeans right? So a TV series that can show all this passion and affection and pre-marital things, a guy telling a girl “Sweetie, honey, habibty” and vice versa for the girl, all their traditions and customs are actually like their real traditions and culture is something different from the usual shows we get. So besides what girls say he is so cute and what guys say the girls are so cute… it comes down to people are interested in the plot.. Who did what and why?? Isn’t that what they talk about also?
So it’s a matter of opinion what you think about the show depending on how you look at it. I saw a few episodes to see what the commotion was about.

whats wrong with you ppl? just because there is a non-American movie/show out there with a handsome guy playing the role of a REAL guy (ibrahim, such a man exists cause he resembles most guys i know, he plays the role of a normal guy, sometimes nice sometimes a complete fool…) we go into sarcastic mode. how many women in Jordan (and in the world) are madly in love with brad pitt for ex?! but did we ever make such a big fuss out of it… no! come on ppl we could fall in love with a Turkish show like we fell in love with friends, alias, even bold and the beautiful lol
it cant be that stupid and if it was showed in European countries i’m sure it would create the same hype!
or maybe all the jordanian critics could direct their talent and become international world-class writers lol
the problem with us as human beings is that we nearly always fail to see the beauty in things… smile the world is full of colors :)

  7. Salwa Says:

this is absurd, really stupid, i really have nothing to say except that i didn’t think play would actually buy into it!

  8. rawan Says:

I completely agree with the fact that this whole obsession with this show and this Muhannad guy is ridiculous, I mean this is just a show, the lines are written and the actors are paid to perform, it’s ok to watch the show and enjoy it, but it have became an ironic phenomenon in Jordan that I think really needs to stop.

  9. Suleiman Says:

i know a dude who’s wife was totally obsessed with this muhannad guy and she was always on a ****ing streak about how he should be more like muhannad… so he divorced her *** …. ahhh that was hilarious

  10. sillynia Says:

oh i think that arabs have enough misery so they need some change..some time to enjoy romance fake adventures..
somehow this says a lot…its like some scream asking for help from our females..the arab females..so umm…
guys work on it..and see what ur sisters..mothers..gfz need and fulfill it..
and i do not think that we should judge ppl around just cuz they watch some show..sometimes i watch ” sanawat al daya3″…yea a turkish show…that duznt say what iam..oh iam into black metal..gothic crap..so umm..whatever..

  11. aline Says:

    i love you muhannad soooooooooo
